Recognized as “Denver’s Run for Veterans Day” by Mayor Michael Hancock, this is a memorial 5K & 10K fun run that is open to runners, joggers, walkers, kids of all ages, and dogs are always welcome.

100% of your registration (and donations!) goes directly to helping Colorado Veterans. The Denver Veterans Day Run is hosted by Colorado Veterans Project, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that hosts special events in order to raise awareness and funds for local Veteran organizations. Our mission is to enhance pride and patriotism in all Coloradans by building a stronger, more supportive community around our Veterans.

Want to show your true motivation and dedication in our toughest competition yet? Test your mettle this year with the Rippetoe Rucksack Challenge. Bring a 25-pound ruck or backpack to the event and race against some of Denver’s toughest competitors on the 10K route. Rippetoe Rucksack Challenge champion will be awarded a special prize.

This competition is in honor of Army Capt. Russell B. Rippetoe, who attended Metro State College in Denver and ROTC. A member of the 75th Ranger Regiment, he was killed in action on April 3, 2003 serving during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Read More >

Day-Of Registration

After online registration ends, participants may still register day-of. Day-of Participants are guaranteed a Timing Bib only. Race T-shirts, Finisher Medals, and Race Bags will be available on a first-come first-served basis until supplies run out. We strongly encourage everyone to PRE-REGISTER online!

FAQ

Both! The 5K or 10K routes can be a leisurely stroll through the park, or a competitive race – that’s up to you! All routes are chip-timed, and the course is USATF-certified.
Yes, ALL participants will receive a timing bib. These bibs start recording your time when you step over the Start line, and stop recording when you step over the Finish line, so you can be sure your time is accurate!
At the event, the race results will be posted as soon as possible. We’ll post the results online later that day on Sunday.
Pre-registered participants–meaning you signed up and paid online before online registration is closed–will get:

  • Exclusively designed T-shirt
  • Finisher’s Medal
  • Timing Bib
  • Race Bag

We strongly encourage everyone to pre-register online so that we can be sure to have enough items for everyone. Although we try our best to anticipate final numbers, we cannot guarantee that Day-of registrants will receive all of the above mentioned items–it will be first come, first served–but they will definitely receive a timing bib.

Yes, kids 12 and under get FREE entry (no T-shirt, timing bib, or medal). And strollers are welcome, all of our courses will be on paved surfaces.
Strollers and wheelchairs are welcome, but please don’t bring bicycles, in-line skates, or anything else that will roll you faster to the finish line.
Yes, Dogs are welcome! Please keep them on a leash at all times and clean up after them.
We urge everyone to carry a cell phone in the event that you or someone you see gets injured. IF SOMEONE NEEDS ASSISTANCE ALONG THE RACE ROUTE PLEASE CALL (720) 425-2978. We will have a golf cart and medical personnel on site. Remember, if necessary, please dial 911.

Yes – In order to more accurately gauge the number of T-shirts, medals, and race bags, we urge everyone to sign up before prices increase by $5.00 on October 15th. This is the first year we are doing a price increase, but this will help us provide enough swag without wasting money and resources (we are a non-profit after all!)

5K Route

This scenic 5K route takes you on a tour of City Park, going around Ferril Lake, next to the Denver Zoo, Martin Luther King Memorial, and showcasing great views of the City Park Pavilion and foothill mountains. Both routes will end where they began, where participants can enjoy the Vendor/Expo Area after the race. On this completely paved route, you can enjoy a leisurely stroll or a fast-paced USATF-certified race!

10K Route

Our 10K route is double the fun of the 5K – because it’s a simple 2-lap course! Enjoy the twice-as-nice views of Duck Lake, Ferril Lake, Denver Zoo, Martin Luther King Memorial, and the City Park Pavilion. After your first lap, the second will be a breeze since you’ll know exactly what’s coming! Enjoy a leisurely stroll or a fast-paced USATF-certified race. Both routes will end where they began, where participants can enjoy the Vendor/Expo Area after the race.
